Construction is underway on a major community facility at the Riverina’s first over-50’s estate as Lincoln Place turned the first sod on a state-of-the-art residents’ clubhouse last week.

Griffith City Council Mayor Doug Curran joined Lincoln Place Executive General Manager Development Angus Johnson, Griffith Hill’s founding residents and local builder Brad Hammond Builders for the official sod turn on Friday. The milestone is a significant development for Griffith Hill Lifestyle Estate, which is located on Citrus Road at Griffith.

“Thank you to Lincoln Place for bringing this to our city. It’s good to see the work going on already, and fantastic they are using so many local trades, which is a real positive for our community,” Mr Curran said.

“The residents will not only benefit physically from the Wellness Centre but also the ability to get together and enjoy each other’s company.”

Lincoln Place Chief Executive Officer, Paul Yeo, said the 744 sqm clubhouse and 160 sqm wellness centre were part of a $7 million investment in the community’s recreational spaces and amenities.

“The clubhouse will serve as the heart of the community where residents come to socialise, entertain their family and friends and connect with others. In each of our communities, amenities are carefully selected to reflect local interests and activities,” Mr Yeo said. “

“Food brings everyone together, so naturally this has been a key focus for the Griffith Hill clubhouse, reflecting the region’s Italian heritage and its reputation as the ‘food bowl’ of New South Wales,” Mr Yeo said.

The clubhouse will feature lounge areas, dining, entertainment, and communal cooking spaces. It will also include a BBQ area, kitchen and dining spaces, a resident lounge, theatre, craft studio, and games room, exclusively for residents to enjoy with their guests. Alongside the clubhouse will be a purpose-built Wellness Centre featuring a bowls green, gym, outdoor heated pool, pickleball courts, putting green and an expansive community garden.

Mr Yeo said the clubhouse project would be delivered by local building company Brad Hammond Builders, with prestige local home builder Coachwood Homes continuing to build homes in the first stage of the six-hectare community.

“We pride ourselves in supporting and engaging local services when we bring our communities to life, and we know these trusted local builders will deliver high-quality homes and amenities,” he said.

“It’s also part of our commitment to making a meaningful contribution to the region’s economy by boosting housing supply and creating jobs, and this will continue as we launch and deliver future home releases.”

The Wellness Centre is scheduled to open in late 2025, with construction of the main clubhouse expected to commence in early 2026. Over the coming years, Griffith Hill Lifestyle Estate will deliver 134 new homes across four stages, only minutes from Griffith town centre and close to Griffith Base Hospital and established amenities including Griffith Golf Course.

Mr Yeo said Over-50s Lifestyle Estates provided an opportunity for people to free up capital and downsize into a thoughtfully designed home with abundant lifestyle amenities. New homes within Griffith Hill Lifestyle Estate start from $469,000.
