World-class multigenerational amenities, including an 8,800sqm clubhouse precinct comprising a grandchildren’s playground and dog park, are part of a multi-million investment by leading over-50s community provider Lincoln Place for its proposed new lifestyle estate in Mackay.
Plans for the group’s second lifestyle estate on the Capricornia Coast were recently lodged with Mackay Regional Council for an elevated 16.54ha site on the corner of Peak Downs Highway and Kellys Road, Walkerston.

Lincoln Place Chief Executive Officer Paul Yeo said downsizers were increasingly drawn to over-50s communities where they could remain close to family and friends, whilst having access to resort-style amenities that were not only attractive to themselves, but to the extended family.
“Mackay is a growing regional centre and with more than one-third of the local population aged over 55 years, we are focused on working closely with Council and the community to deliver quality, well-priced downsizer housing in a market where demand is still significantly outpacing supply,” Mr Yeo said.
“The amenities in the proposed Walkerston estate represent one of the largest indoor-outdoor clubhouse precincts and wellness centres we’ve created, featuring pickleball and bocce courts, a bowling green, and lagoon pool with an outdoor bar and kitchen, BBQ areas and open spaces.
“Inside, the 1,950sqm clubhouse and wellness centre features an additional lap pool, gym, yoga studio, as well as an art studio, private 26-seat cinema, golf simulator, games room, lounge and library, and large dining spaces, kitchen and private dining room for events.”
“The inclusion of a children’s playground is a first for Lincoln Place and reflects the family-focused approach to community design we are instilling in our estates.
“The playground is designed to spark imagination for younger visitors, with shaded areas and seating for families to gather. It’s located next to the community’s very own dog park and with many residents likely to be pet owners, we know dog parks are fantastic places to socialise and form friendships.”
The masterplan also includes a 2,400sqm community garden area, extensive pedestrian networks and RV and boat storage. A range of low-maintenance two and three-bedroom homes will be available, some with specialised RV parking, ensuring a varied streetscape amongst the native landscaped grounds.
The proposed lifestyle community adjoins an established residential neighbourhood and is located only 16 minutes south-west of the Mackay CBD. It has easy access to the local shopping centre, services and the popular Western Suburbs Leagues Club.
Mr Yeo said Lincoln Place’s national portfolio of lifestyle estates was home to more than 3,000 Australians who have embraced the land lease community model to unlock financial freedom and live life well.
“Land leasing has become a popular housing option in Australia and internationally, providing opportunities for the over-50s downsizer market to free up equity from the sale of their existing home,” he said.
“The financial benefits available to residents within a Lincoln Place land lease estate include no entry or exit fees, no stamp duty, no body-corporate fee or deferred management fees, and council rates are covered by the single weekly site rental that also covers the maintenance of the extensive lifestyle amenities provided within the estate.
“When you own your home, you keep any increase in its value, and you can pass it on to your family if you decide to sell or transfer it.”
Mr Yeo said once the development was underway, it would also create local jobs and deliver much-needed housing supply. Pending planning approval, construction is expected to commence in the next 12 months and the first residents able to move into their new homes in 2027.
