Health Corner: Exercise Snacks
In partnership with Wini Health
This month’s Health Corner is all about exercise snacks. And no, not the edible kind. An exercise snack is a quick, easy wellness habit you can weave into your day, no prep, no fuss. Read on to hear what the Wini team have to say.
What’s an exercise snack, anyway?
Exercise “snacks” are short bursts of movement, usually 1-5 minutes, sprinkled throughout your day.
They’re simple, accessible, and surprisingly powerful for your health.
These mini-sessions work because they break up long periods of sitting, which is strongly linked to higher all-cause mortality. Even brief movement boosts circulation, improves blood sugar control, wakes up your muscles, and reduces inflammation.Over time, these small bursts accumulate into meaningful improvements in fitness, strength, and metabolic health.
A few to get you started
Exercise snacks can be anything that gets you moving: Brisk stair climbs, a quick walk around the block, 10 squats, a set of heel raises, or a fast sit-to-stand burst. Done regularly, they improve cardiovascular health, muscle strength, balance, and energy levels—without needing a full workout.
The best part is how achievable they are. A few minutes, several times a day, can significantly reduce health risks and help you live longer, healthier, and more actively.
