Health Corner: Keep moving with arthritis
In partnership with Wini Health
Getting older can bring a few changes, but joint pain doesn’t have to slow you down. In this month’s Health Corner, Lincoln Lifestyle, in partnership with Wini Health, explores how gentle, regular exercise can help people living with arthritis reduce stiffness, improve mobility and keep moving with confidence.
What the experts have to say
Exercise is one of the most effective ways to manage arthritis symptoms, and the right kind of movement can reduce pain, improve mobility, and make daily tasks feel easier.
Gentle aerobic exercise like walking, cycling, or swimming helps lubricate the joints, reduce stiffness, and improve circulation. Even 10-15 minutes can make a noticeable
difference.
Strength training is especially helpful because stronger muscles support and protect sore joints. Light weights, resistance bands, or simple bodyweight moves like sit-to-stands can improve stability and reduce pain over time.
Mobility and stretching keep joints moving comfortably. Slow, controlled movements – such as gentle knee bends, shoulder rolls, or ankle circles – help maintain range of
motion. Low-impact options like water exercise, tai chi, or Pilates are also excellent for reducing stiffness while being kind on the joints.
The key is consistency and choosing movements that feel comfortable. Regular, gentle exercise helps people with arthritis stay active, confident, and more in control of their symptoms.
