Baranduda Residents Come Together for Breast Cancer Awareness

Residents at Lincoln Lifestyle Baranduda, Lincoln Place’s over-50s community near Wodonga, came together last week for a Breast Cancer Awareness Afternoon Tea, with community spirit on full display.

Led by residents and supported by local businesses and the community’s operations team, the afternoon raised funds and awareness for an important cause.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, encourage early detection and support those affected by the disease. Afternoons like this show what a caring community can achieve.

Residents lead the fundraising

Resident Christine Stanley initiated the event and contributed decorations and breast cancer awareness merchandise for a gold coin donation stall. She also baked themed cookies and purchased a cake for attendees to share.

Fellow resident Christine Cohrs organised the raffle, supplying handmade glasses pouches and toiletry bags. Janet Pauline contributed a hand-sewn little girl’s dress, while Roxy’s Café & Pizzeria donated two $50 vouchers.

Local businesses lend their support

Local businesses also contributed to the afternoon. Roxanne, known as Roxy, and David, owners of the Gluten Free Food Store, donated a platter of gluten-free sweets.

Ahead of the event, Lucy and Wade Smith from Wade Smith Plumbing donated $217. Meanwhile, the Lincoln Lifestyle Baranduda Operations team contributed towards catering and additional decorations.

A shared community effort

The event raised more than $770, with additional online donations continuing to come in.

Beyond the fundraising, the afternoon gave residents an opportunity to catch up and contribute to a shared cause. It reflected the community spirit at Lincoln Lifestyle Baranduda, with neighbours volunteering their time, sharing their skills and supporting one another.
