Each year on 1 October, the United Nations marks the International Day of Older Persons. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the contributions, experiences and achievements of older people while recognising the importance of supporting health and wellbeing as we age.
At Lincoln Place, we believe getting older should be about enjoying more of what matters: staying active, connecting with others and having the confidence to embrace new experiences. It is all part of what it means to Live Life Well.
Ageing well looks different for everyone. Retirement may mean slowing down for some people, while for others it brings more time to explore new interests, stay active and build meaningful connections.
Lifestyle neighbourhoods can support this next chapter by creating opportunities for people to connect with neighbours, participate in activities and enjoy low-maintenance over-50s living.
Regular movement can also play an important role in maintaining strength, balance and mobility. Small, consistent actions can support how we move through everyday life, whether that means walking around the neighbourhood, joining a group activity, spending time in the garden or keeping up with family and friends.
This International Day of Older Persons, we are encouraging residents to consider the simple steps they can take to support their health and continue doing the things they enjoy.

To mark the occasion, our partners at Wini Health are launching Standing Strong for Better Balance, a new 12-week program available to Lincoln Place residents at no extra cost.
Created by Wini Health’s team of allied health professionals, including physiotherapists and exercise physiologists, the program is designed to help older adults build better balance, confidence and independence.
Standing Strong gently progresses through three phases:
Each phase builds on the one before it, supporting participants to feel stronger, steadier and more capable in daily life.

For people considering their retirement living or downsizing options, health and wellbeing can be an important part of choosing where to live.
Lincoln Place lifestyle neighbourhoods are designed to support active, connected and fulfilling over-50s living. Through partnerships such as Wini Health, residents can access practical resources and programs that support their wellbeing, both at home and within their neighbourhood.
It is one of the ways we help residents stay connected, keep moving and live life to the fullest.

Standing Strong
Lincoln Place residents are invited to an exclusive online webinar introducing the Standing Strong Program on Thursday 1 October 2026 from 11:00am to 11:45am.
The Wini Health team will explain how the program works, introduce its three phases and answer residents’ questions.
Whether you already enjoy regular exercise or are looking for an accessible place to begin, the session will offer practical strategies that can help you move with greater confidence.
This International Day of Older Persons, take a positive step towards better balance, greater independence and continuing to live life well.
